Anjelica + Rodrigo’s North Cascades Elopement at Diablo Lake
Anjelica + Rodrigo
There’s something about the North Cascades that feels almost unreal. The towering mountain peaks, the deep evergreen forests, and the bright turquoise water tucked between it all make this part of Washington feel like a hidden world. For couples dreaming of an intimate, nature-filled wedding day, it’s one of the most underrated places to elope in the Pacific Northwest.
Anjelica and Rodrigo’s elopement day was the perfect example of why.
An Intimate Ceremony Along Diablo Lake
Their day began in the afternoon along the shores of Diablo Lake in the North Cascades. If you’ve never seen Diablo Lake in person, the water almost doesn’t look real. It’s this incredibly vibrant blue color surrounded by layers of mountains and dense forest, and somehow it feels peaceful and dramatic all at once.
Anjelica and Rodrigo chose a quiet section of shoreline for their ceremony, tucked away from the crowds so they could fully focus on each other and the experience of the day. The two of them exchanged vows with the mountains rising behind them and the sound of the water nearby. It was simple, intentional, and exactly what they wanted.
One of the best things about eloping in the North Cascades is that you really don’t need much to make the day feel meaningful. The scenery does so much of the work for you. Instead of worrying about timelines, decorations, or entertaining guests, they were able to slow down and actually be present with each other.
As the afternoon shifted into evening, we explored the shoreline together and took portraits while the light softened over the lake. The entire area felt incredibly calm, like the whole world had quieted down around them for a little while.
Ending the Day in a Natural Hot Spring
After their ceremony, Anjelica and Rodrigo decided to celebrate in one of the most Pacific Northwest ways possible: soaking in a natural hot spring hidden in the forest about 40 minutes away.
Honestly, it could not have been a more perfect ending to the day.
The two of them spent the evening relaxing in the warm water surrounded by towering trees and the sounds of the forest. After the excitement and emotion of their ceremony, it gave them space to slow down, reflect, and really soak in everything they had just experienced together.
One of my favorite things about planning elopements in places like the North Cascades is helping couples create days that feel like them. Your wedding day does not have to follow a traditional structure. It can look like exchanging vows beside a glacial lake and ending the night in a secluded hot spring deep in the mountains.
That freedom is what makes elopements so special.
Tips for Eloping in North Cascades National Park
1. Plan for a Weekday Elopement
The North Cascades are much quieter than other Washington national parks, but popular areas like Diablo Lake can still get busy during summer weekends. Choosing a weekday gives you a more private experience and better access to parking and overlooks.
2. Build in Time to Explore
One of the best parts of eloping here is the drive itself. The scenic highway through the North Cascades is filled with overlooks, forest trails, alpine lakes, and hidden spots worth stopping for. Leave room in your timeline for spontaneous moments.
3. Prepare for Changing Weather
Even in summer, mountain weather can shift quickly. Bring layers and be ready for cooler temperatures in the evening, especially near the water.
4. Consider Adding an Activity to Your Day
Whether it’s soaking in a hot spring, hiking to an overlook, canoeing on the lake, or sharing a quiet picnic, adding an experience to your elopement day helps it feel less like a photoshoot and more like an unforgettable adventure together.

Anjelica and Rodrigo’s day was such a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most meaningful wedding days are the simplest ones. Just the two of you, surrounded by nature, fully present with each other, and celebrating in a way that actually feels true to who you are.
